This is my new flatwater SUP...

(above) 13'2" x 29.5"...35#Cedar and basswood deck and bottom...Sides are inexpensive plywood...

(above) Both the top and bottom skins are 1/8" thick...

(above) On deck and below deck storage options...Built into the deck port is a bottle holder...The dot behind the hole is the breather vent...The hand-hold hole allows you to put your fingers in and bend them so you can lift the board straight up...

(above) Stuff sacks can be attached to the cord on the deck port...

(above) I added a bit of nose and tail rocker for a smoother ride...

(above) Maiden voyage, in motion...

(above) For being such thin skins, it's concrete solid...The standing area has three coats of polyurethane varnish with sand added for texture...

(above) Backing up to the beginning...The deck skins are laid up flat on a table, taped together, flipped over and fiberglassed on what will be the inside...

(above) Glassed and ready for assembly...

(above) Unlike every other hollow wood board, this one has no stringer or cross rib framing...

(above) I'll deal with the tail later...

(above) The first layer of carbon fiber is epoxied to the deck...The wood strips are for stiffness...They will get carbon fiber too...

(above) More wood, carbon fiber, and a bit of fiberglass...That's the extent of the interior deck reinforcement...

(above) The tail will be a 'fan tail' design...The threaded rod gets removed then the rails get planed to below the holes...

(above) To stiffen up the bottom skin, wood, fiberglass and some CF yarn is added...

(above) The bottom skin is ready for installation...

(above) Oh yeah, there is a fin box built into the board too...

(above) This is a keeper...!!!...

(above) Feel free to copy the bottom  design...Yeah, right...
